The First Defenestration of Prague
Today is the anniversary of the First Defenestration of
Prague, an event that took place in 1419 in the midst of the Hussite rebellion. When a march of the Hussites was met (it is
alleged) by a rock thrown from the city hall, the building was stormed, and
seven members of the towns leadership were tossed from the windows to their
respective deaths. The Hussite Wars,
which lasted until 1436, would as a direct result follow.
